NAVIGON Europe App Reviews

Just perfect !!!

Currently travelling this Spring in Poland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia. This app is perfect. I also own Navigon Canada & USA.

I love the accuracy!

I use both the us and Europe versions and I never get lost with this app! I use navigon on both my iPad 3G and iPhone and it works great. If I could click directly on POIs on the map and get info about them as well as make the destinations I would give 5 stars. This app is worth the money!

No Iceland?

Doesnt include Iceland. Last time I checked, Iceland was in Europe.

Very good navigation app!

I purchased this before my latest trip to Europe and used it to navigate through 6 countries in 3 weeks with almost no issues. The only roads I found to be lacking were some of the new expressways in Slovenia and Croatia but otherwise it got me to my destinations with perfect precision and flawless guidance.

Excellent User Interface Upgrade

I have used the NA and EU versions of this app for a couple of years now. I thought the core navigation function was excellent but that the user interface was poor. The 2.0 upgrade provides a new and well designed user interface while retaining the excellent navigation function. So I highly recommend it. My only remaining gripe is that it STILL doesnt understand apartment numbers - reducing the utility of the contacts integration. There are complaints in the NA reviews about the modest extra charge for quarterly map upgrades, but Im happy to pay a little extra to ensure that up to date maps are readily available.

Very efficient in 4 EU countries

Ive been in France, England, Switzerland and Italy and I am very please with this app. Even in Venise, the pedestran mode was very efficient. Battery consuming tho. BTW it works without the 3G mode. I recommand the apps. Dont be fool by people who dont want pay and complaining endlessly about it.

Outdated City Roads & Messy UI (v2.1)

Bought this app to drive in Portugal & Spain. User interface is very cluttered. The route to follow is too thick of a yellow line; maybe OK for an ipad but difficult to see the road map behind on an iphone. Suggested route in Porto not the optimal with mistakes. City roads for Santiago do not work most of the time; has to use google map find out my location after I was completely lost. The one way street I want to go to in Salamanca is designated as the opposite direction (Google map also has the wrong one way direction marked for this street). So I walked instead of driving within a city. It needs to update those junctions which have removed the Round-Abouts. In Lisbon, it takes me from my downtown hotel to the airport through small roads, including a parking lot, whereas google map suggested a regular main roads route. When inside the cities, I put Navigon in the background so I can still hear the navigation and put Google Map on the screen to see my exact location. Within a day after I purchase Navigon Europe at $120+tax, it release 2.1, and the price is $8X. This is the most expensive App Ive ever purchased and I regret buying it.

Unreliable in UK and France

When it wants to fetch satellites, good to go, but it takes up to 10 app restarts to get GPS signal. When unsuccessful, I see the GPS icon appear for about 5 secs, then it disappears and the app sits there and does nothing. Ive never had this issue in Canada/USA. Not really impressed with the interface either. Dragging the options pane upwards is a pain.

A must

Just returned from 2 weeks in Italy. Used this app to drive and walk in Rome, Tuscany, Florence and Venice. An absolute must to get around. I knew about the vehicle mode but the pedestrian mode proved to be so useful to walk to tourist attractions, restaurants and find our way in little streets of Venice. As for oversees charges, I kept the roaming data option off at all times. The app got a satellite lock no problems and no cell data was used. Highly recommend.

Are they nickel-and-diming us... or is this just fraud

I paid $70, long ago, for this app- expensive but worth it for future map updates, convenience of not having 2 devices, etc. Now it seems thing have changed, and they want me to pay another $34 for map updates. Well they wont get another cent from me, and I hope all these low ratings send a message by destroying their future sales. I will switch to the competition when I need a map update- I have had it with Garmin/Navigon. AVOID their products and BOYCOTT Garmin/Navigon.

Frustrating

THE most frustrating app I have on my ipad bar none. So many maps and yet so darn difficult to use. Try to navigate from one city/country to another city/country, good luck. Pick Geneva Switzerland and try to go to Lyon France, wheres France? I downloaded it, restarted the app, no France. So start in Lyon and go to Geneva, no Switzerland. If you dont have enough frustration in your life, download this app.

Great App

Have used this on several driving trips in Europe. Only thing I would like is for it to let you choose your own route. I know it offers sometimes three alternative routes… but sometimes I know the route I want and I can’t seem to change it’s path…. unless I turn off the proposed route and the thing re-calculates. Great app, though. (iPad and iPhone).

Excellent!

I’m a happy long-time user of Navigon North America, so when I planned a trip to Europe, I immediately bought this version. It took us through three countries — Greece, Macedonia, and Italy — and many cities, villages and islands. Some of those ancient places are tough to get navigate, especially for someone from a North American city with a grid layout. We both drove and walked, and it never failed.

Amazing app

Worth very penny! I would have been lost without it.

Excellent!!

Good navigation system!!

No turkey map

There are so many iphone users in Turkey why is there No Turkey map

With new version 3G connection required

I have bought this application as it was an alternative for a GPS device, and it was so when I first bought it 2 years ago. Later it prompted me to upgrade for new version and I accepted it as usual hoping for new specifications and maps. Then I realized that it no longer can work without operator connected to the internet which means that you have to activate your international cellular data download and of course you have to pay for that… Now I cannot go back for the first version… To be short use google maps instead, you pay for the connection in both but not for the program in google maps..

UPDATE

update on iOS 8 and iPhone 6!!!
